The Ideal WordPress PHP and Server Requirements
Gomax runs on any standard WordPress hosting, but a few server and PHP settings make a real difference in reliability. This article lists the recommended versions and limits, and what to do if your host falls short.
Server requirements
Section titled “Server requirements”For a Gomax theme to work as expected, your host needs to run compatible versions of WordPress, MySQL, and PHP. If you’re not sure which versions your host provides, contact your hosting provider’s support team.
- WordPress 6.0 or higher
- MySQL 5.6 or higher
- PHP 7.4 or higher
PHP requirements
Section titled “PHP requirements”The values below are recommendations, not hard minimums — some sites run fine with lower limits. Your server works hardest when you edit long pages, save entries with a lot of data, or import demo content, since all of these process large amounts of data at once.
These settings gave the best overall performance in testing:
| PHP setting | Recommended value |
|---|---|
| PHP Memory Limit | 256M or greater |
| PHP Post Max Size | 1000M or greater |
| PHP Max Input Vars | 3000 or greater |
| Upload Max File Size | 300M or greater |
| Max Execution Time | 1200 or greater |
| Max Input Time | 600 or greater |
Low PHP limits are the usual cause of a white screen, a failed demo import, empty page content, or a theme that won’t save its settings.
If you run into any of these, increase your PHP limits. Do this yourself if you’re comfortable editing server configuration, or ask your hosting provider to raise the limits to the values above.
