Global Sections Overview

A Global Section is a block that displays across your site rather than living inside a single page. A Navbar or Footer are the classic examples — they need to appear on (almost) every page, so you build them once and Shock shows them everywhere.

Shock is built on a Global Sections system that treats these blocks conditionally: you can create several versions of the same section type and choose exactly where each one appears. That makes it easy to give one landing page a different header, show a promotional Popup Bar only on the shop, or display a modal to first-time visitors.

Because every Global Section is designed with Elementor, you can drop in any widget you like — text, images, buttons, forms, menus — which makes them far more flexible than a fixed theme header.

  1. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Shock » Global Sections.

  2. Click Add New to create a section, or Edit on an existing item in the list.

  3. Give the section a title. This is only used to identify it in the list — it is never shown on the site.

  4. Configure the display settings (see Display conditions below), then click Update to save.

  1. Go to Shock » Global Sections.

  2. Find the section you want to design and click Edit with Elementor.

  3. Build the layout with any Elementor and Shock Core widgets, then Publish.

Every Global Section is governed by three settings on its Edit screen:

SettingWhat it does
Section TypeChooses which kind of section this is (Navbar, Footer, Popup, etc.). See the table below.
Display RulesThe locations where this section should appear — the whole site, a specific page, an archive, and so on.
Exclude RulesThe locations where this section should be hidden, even if a display rule would otherwise show it. Exclusions win over inclusions.

This include/exclude model is what lets you show a section almost everywhere while carving out exceptions — for example, “show on the entire site except the checkout page.”

When you create a Global Section you pick a Section Type. Each type controls where and how the block is rendered.

Section typeWhat it is
NavbarThe site header — logo, navigation menu, buttons and optional sticky behavior. See the Navbar guide.
Grid MenuA full-screen or panel-style overlay menu laid out as a grid, ideal for bold, image-driven navigation.
FooterThe site footer — link columns, widgets and a copyright bar. See the Footer guide.
Popup BarA slim notification bar (top or bottom) for announcements, offers or cookie notices.
Popup BoxA floating box, usually in a corner, for smaller promotions, chat prompts or newsletter nudges.
ModalA centered dialog with a dimmed backdrop, triggered on load or by an action, for high-priority messages.
CursorA custom cursor that replaces the default pointer for a distinctive, branded feel.
Scroll to TopA button that appears as visitors scroll down and returns them to the top of the page in one click.
Side IconsA fixed vertical strip of icons (social links, contact shortcuts) pinned to the edge of the screen.
Vertical LinesDecorative vertical guide lines overlaid on the layout for a structured, editorial look.
Cursor FollowerAn accent element that trails the cursor, adding subtle motion to the interface.
