Import Demo Data

The demo importer lets you pull in the same content you see on the Shock demo website with a single click. Instead of starting from a blank page, you begin with fully built pages you can edit to match your brand.

  1. Open the demo importer.

From your WordPress panel, go to Shock » Demo Import.

The Shock » Demo Import screen in the WordPress admin, showing the demo preview and the import options (Pre-Built Websites, All Content, Pages and Posts, Global Sections, Element Pages, WooCommerce Products) before clicking Import Demo.
  2. Choose what to import.

Pick from the available options depending on how much you want: Pre-Built Websites, All Content, Pages and Posts, Global Sections, Element Pages, or WooCommerce Products.

  3. Run the import.

Click Import Demo, then Continue & Import. Wait for the process to finish completely.

Most import problems — a white screen, content that fails to import, empty pages, or settings that won’t save — come down to PHP configuration limits that are set too low.

The fix is to raise those limits. Do it yourself if you have the skills, or ask your hosting provider to bump them up to the minimums in Server Requirements. Import issues can also stem from other server restrictions, so your host is the right place to start if raising the limits doesn’t resolve it.
