Portfolio: Add and Display Your Projects

Shock includes a dedicated Portfolio post type so you can showcase projects, case studies or work samples separately from your regular blog posts. Each item can have its own layout, category and featured image, and you can display them in filterable grids anywhere on your site.

So you can design portfolio items with the page builder, make sure Portfolio is enabled in Elementor’s supported post types.

  1. Go to Elementor » Settings » Post Types (see Important Elementor Settings).

  2. Check Portfolio alongside the other recommended options.

  3. Save changes.

  1. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Portfolio » Add New.

  2. Enter a title and, optionally, a description.

  3. Set a Featured Image — this becomes the thumbnail used in portfolio grids, so use a consistent aspect ratio across items for a tidy grid.

  4. Assign a Portfolio Category to group related projects (this powers the filters later).

  5. Design the item’s layout with Elementor if you want full control, then click Publish.

Repeat for each project you’d like to show.

To control how every portfolio item looks, build a template with Global Sections and set its display condition to your Portfolio items. You define the layout once — title, featured image, meta, content area — and it applies to all projects automatically, so you don’t redesign each one.

Edit any page with Elementor and add a Portfolio widget from the Post & Portfolio widget category (see Widgets for Elementor). From the widget controls you can set:

  • The number of columns in the grid
  • How many items to show
  • Which categories to include
  • Whether to show filters, titles, and other details

Adjust the styling live until the grid matches your design.
