Required Plugins
A plugin is an add-on that extends WordPress with functionality beyond a standard installation. Nexgen relies on a small set of plugins to deliver its Elementor widgets, builders, and other features — without them, much of what makes the theme powerful is unavailable.
Install the required plugins
Section titled “Install the required plugins”As soon as you activate Nexgen, an admin notice appears at the top of your dashboard recommending the plugins you need. You can follow that notice, or go to Appearance » Install Plugins at any time. From there, select the plugins, then install and activate them.
What plugins are required?
Section titled “What plugins are required?”| Plugin | What it does |
|---|---|
| Nexgen Core | The heart of the theme. It adds Nexgen’s custom Elementor widgets and unlocks the builder features. Install and activate this first. |
| Elementor (free) | The page builder. You need it to design your pages with drag-and-drop. |
| Contact Form 7 | Creates and manages contact forms. You may swap in another form plugin if you prefer. |
We recommend Elementor because it follows modern web development standards closely and integrates directly with Nexgen Core’s widgets and builders.
Temporary plugins
Section titled “Temporary plugins”Some plugins are only needed for a specific task and can be removed afterward:
| Plugin | What it does |
|---|---|
| One Click Demo Import | Used only for importing demo content. Once you have finished importing, you can deactivate or delete it. |
Selling online? Add WooCommerce
Section titled “Selling online? Add WooCommerce”If you plan to sell products, install WooCommerce — the free, open-source e-commerce platform that powers your shop. It provides the store, cart, checkout, and product management that everything else builds on. Add it only if your site needs a store.
What’s next
Section titled “What’s next”With the plugins in place, you are ready to import the demo content or start building from scratch with Elementor.
